The Stop Shot or Stop Ball
There are various types of shots in snooker that you should learn to better your game. The stop shot is one of the fundamental shots that you should have in your arsenal. Remember, practice makes perfect, so don’t be too discouraged if you do not get it the first time.
What Is The Stop Shot?
Hitting the center of the cue ball and having it stop in place after making impact with another ball do the stop shot.
Long Stop Shot
When the object ball you are aiming to hit is far away, then you must hit the cue ball no more than a cue’s tip below the center of the ball. Also, a common tendency that occurs when aiming lower is that the cue stick becomes off level, so make sure you take note of that and maintain the balance. The cue ball is to have a slight backspin on it so that when it impacts the ball it stops dead in its tracks.
Short Stop Shot
When the object ball you are aiming for is close to the cue ball, then you must hit the center of the ball with medium force. The cue ball must be able to slide across the table with no spin at all.
