The Pre-Shot Routine
The Pre-Shot Routine
The pre-shot routine may be more important than your actual shot. Learning how a proper pre-shot routine will lead to more consistency in your game.
Plan
The first step to a successful shot is deciding on a ball to target. Don’t be impatient and walk around the table to see all of the angles and possibilities.
Aiming
After deciding which ball you want to hit and what degrees of impact you want, position your body and cue so that it lines up with the intended point of contact. Stand with the pool cue lined up between your feet to visualize the shot, and then turn your body at about a 45-degree angle so that you are in the proper pool stance.
Grip and Execution
Implement the proper grip and bridge while you are in your stance. Gently practice a half stroke that is in line with your intended target. Finally, you are ready to execute the stroke, do not hesitate and don’t be too mad if the ball does not go as intended.
