The Pool Grip

The Pool Grip
One of the most important aspects of a good pool stroke is the grip a player applies. Just remember, if it does not feel comfortable, then your grip probably needs some improvement.

Loose and Relaxed
Your grip should be loose and relaxed, much like your stroke. Generally, players should try and use 2-3 fingers to hold the cue and their thumbs are to wrap around the cue comfortably. Also, your pinky (small finger) should not touch the cue at all.

Straight Line
Be sure to keep in mind when performing your final stroke, your wrist and elbow should form a straight line. Also, your wrist must also point straight down, not angled inward or outward.

Balance Point
Use your index finger to balance the cue to find the balance point (generally near the lower-middle of the cue). After finding this point, place your gripping hand within 6 inches of this point, the taller the player, the more distance can be made from the grip to the balance point.
